Boiler Upgrade
Older boilers are less efficient than modern ones. Under the ECO scheme, homes could qualify for a replacement boiler if the current boiler is non-condensing, less than 86% efficient, and over 8 years old.
As with any energy efficiency measure available under ECO4, specific qualifying criteria apply. In the case of boilers, Ofgem emphasizes ensuring a property is well-insulated before upgrading a boiler to maximize the benefits of a new boiler. Therefore, homeowners may be eligible for a replacement boiler grant if the boiler is installed shortly after an insulation measure, like loft insulation, has been completed.
For those in the private rented sector, a property with an E-G Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is eligible for a boiler upgrade if the current boiler is replaced with a renewable heating system.
